Why Take Swim Lessons?
I was talking with some lifeguards and they can always tell when a swimmer has had
lessons. So many kids are self taught or the well meaning parents show them how to do it.
But quite frankly formal training is necessary to really learn how to swim. Many self taught
kids tend to "doggie paddle" and rarely have a good streamline to really move through the
water efficiently.
Swimming lessons can teach some basic hydrodynamics, and help the swimmer move
through the water efficiently and effectively and get from point A to point B as fast as
possible.
But the most important reason is because learning how to swim can actually save your life
and there aren't very many sports that can do that for you.
Yes! Learning how to swim and having a healthy respect for the water can save your life. I
get nervous when a parent tells me their child loves the water and is totally fearless. This is
a red flag, get that child into swim lessons NOW!
Nose Plugs and why you don't need them (unless you are a synchronized
swimmer).
To plug or not to plug? It is very simple, exhale under water! Come to lessons and we'll
show you proper rhythmic breathing and you'll never need that plug again. Unless of
course, you are a synchronized swimmer.

Safety
Safety around water
We do not believe someone can ever be "drown proof". Safety should always come first
when in and around water. Life Jackets save lives, and adult supervision is ALWAYS
necessary.
Swimmers Ear
Don't clean out that wax! It actually protects your ear from infection. Water that settles
inside the ear can get infected and cause some serious pain.
Health
Benefits of Swimming
Ahhhhhhhhhh the benefits of swimming. Besides the fact that it feels great to be almost
weightless and the soothing qualities of water, swimming is excellent exercise. Consider just
normal walking, now add the resistance of water. Not only do you give your outer body a
workout but with breath control and rhythmic breathing you can give those lungs quite a
workout too!
Swimming for Fitness
Olympic swimmers have great bodies, long lean and healthy. Injuries are less than any
other sport and you can work your body inside and out. Need I say more.
Why start a baby at a young age?
So many reasons to start a baby young, one of my favorite videos is Swim Baby Swim by
Esther Williams and she says it all. Exercise, and a lifelong love of the water and swimming,
are just a few reasons to start young.
